community club house: the arc of benton county
The Arc of Benton County serves members of their community with intellectual and developmental disabilities, such as autism. Their new head quarters needed to accommodate the sensory and physical accessibility needs of their users and provide a safe and welcoming gathering space for community events, life skill classes and administrative duties.
Creating a space that celebrated and fostered the garden to kitchen to table sequence.
The project addressed design solutions for sound and light pollution from the adjacent highway, along with safety concerns, an irregular existing building and limited light access.
Affordability, practicality, adaptability, and user comfort were key concerns.

The building consisted of multiple additions with varying floor and ceiling heights throughout. Resting just 6ft from the sidewalk
Clubhouse Perspective
A loose, iterative digital collage approach was used from early on in the project to help form ideas about how the space would feel, which would then inform final design decisions in the model.
